Bipartisan Policy Center: The Future of Telehealth After COVID-19

The Bipartisan Policy Center released a report and a Medicare data analysis to inform policy decisions for telehealth. The report provides an overview of telehealth flexibilities during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as recommendations that address immediate policy questions of whether certain flexibilities should remain permanently available to Medicare beneficiaries, including what types of services should remain accessible via telehealth, who would benefit from access to telehealth, by what modality, and how they should be reimbursed. The Medicare data analysis studies potential spending impacts to the Medicare program if certain telehealth flexibilities are extended once the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE) ends.
