Journal of General Internal Medicine: Patterns of Telemedicine Use in Primary Care for People with Dementia in the Post-Pandemic Period
There was a large increase in telemedicine among people with dementia in the post-pandemic period at primary care sites. Those with longer drives to clinic and the oldest patients were most likely to use telemedicine, likely due to challenges traveling to appointments. Still, not all people with dementia used telemedicine equally—particularly those with limited English proficiency. The study results suggest health systems have an opportunity to focus on the remote care needs of dementia patients, particularly those who use a language other than English.
