International Journal of Research Publication and Reviews: Mental Healthcare Disparities in Low-Income U.S. Populations: Barriers, Policy Challenges, and Intervention Strategies

This paper reviewed barriers to mental health care access for low-income U.S. populations, examines policy shortcomings, and proposes intervention strategies to promote equitable mental health outcomes. The paper argues that expanding telehealth services removes geographic barriers, particularly in rural areas experiencing mental health provider shortages. The paper adds that telepsychiatry services have significantly increased accessibility for individuals facing geographical and transportation barriers. The paper concludes that telehealth and digital mental health solutions have expanded mental health care access, particularly in underserved regions, though challenges such as broadband limitations and digital literacy remain.
