Annals of Family Medicine: Family Caregivers’ Experiences With Telehealth During COVID-19: Insights From Michigan

A recent study involving family caregivers in Michigan aimed to understand the benefits and barriers to telemedicine visits for older adults from the perspective of the caregiver. The study found that caregivers viewed the perceived benefits of telehealth to be increased access to health care, limited risk exposure to COVID-19, and improved relationships and rapport between older relatives and health care providers. Researchers highlighted that policies that include family caregivers in telehealth visits may be critical for facilitating older adults’ access to health care via telehealth, and therefore, older adults’ ability to age in place.
